According to the official notice, the automatic closure time for shipments will be updated. For shipments created after February 1, 2024, if the shipment is not delivered within 45 days domestically or 75 days internationally, the shipment will be automatically closed.
The time for FBA shipments sent from within China has been reduced to 75 days.
The time for FBA shipments sent within the United States has been shortened to 45 days.
Previously, the automatic shutdown time for FBA shipments was 90 days, but the new rule is that your batch of FBA shipments will be automatically closed in the Amazon backend if they have not been delivered to Amazon's FBA warehouse within 90 days after being shipped.
On the other hand, if the shipment does not meet Amazon's requirements or differs from the inventory plan, Amazon will reject the shipment and charge the seller a storage defect fee to cover the additional costs required for re shipping, receiving, and processing the shipment.
Amazon's goal is to plug the loophole of "changing shipping address", which is very complete. It uses a 45 day delivery time to curb your behavior of filling in shipping addresses indiscriminately.
Previously, many sellers intentionally filled in the shipping address as the address of the FBA warehouse in the United States, or filled in an address near the FBA warehouse in the United States, in order to send their FBA shipments to the FBA warehouse in the United States. This way, Amazon would arrange the shipment nearby.
This operation method has been tried and tested by most sellers, and the biggest problem is that they cannot find the warehouse they want to send.
But now, Amazon has divided the time for automatic closure of shipments based on international and domestic standards, which means that if you ship from a US address again, your shipment must be delivered within 45 days, otherwise it will be automatically closed.
Amazon may reject shipments that do not meet Amazon logistics shipping requirements
In the past, Amazon was actually quite conservative in rejecting non compliant items. For some minor violations, as long as they were delivered, they would basically be stored for you, making it less difficult for sellers.
However, starting from February 1st, Amazon may refuse shipments that do not meet Amazon's logistics requirements. If the platform accepts inventory that does not meet its shipment requirements or is different from the seller's inventory plan, it may charge the seller a storage defect fee.
If you send any non compliant FBA shipments in the future, refuse to accept them.
If I receive your non compliant goods, I will also be charged a "storage defect fee".
The following situations may cause rejection of the shipment or additional charges. Sellers should pay attention to avoiding pitfalls:
1. Delivery to wrong location: Your shipment has been sent to a different operation center than the one listed in the inbound plan.
2. Items that have been deleted and discarded:
Your domestic shipment was not delivered within 45 days after the creation of the shipment, and the international shipment was not delivered within 75 days after the creation of the shipment.
In multiple destination inbound plans, your other shipments were not delivered within 30 days after the first shipment was delivered, or you created a shipment to be assigned as a multi destination shipment, only sending a portion of it and deleting the remaining shipments (deleting warehouse).
It should be noted that if the seller wishes to change the approved inbound plan, they must delete all items within that plan before starting transportation.
These new policies have to be said to be a blow to many sellers, and the release of these policies will lead to a significant increase in the initial cost for many sellers in the future.
However, Amazon sellers must pay attention to the content of this new policy and strictly follow Amazon's regulations when shipping after February 1st.
In short, the introduction of Amazon's FBA new policy has brought new challenges to sellers. In a fiercely competitive market environment, sellers need to continuously improve their logistics management capabilities, optimize operational strategies, and cope with rising cost pressures. Only in this way can we stand invincible in the fierce market competition.
